The South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K. D. Ushinsky is a public university in the city of Odessa. The university was founded in 1817.

The South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University is one of the oldest educational institutions of Ukraine and the first teaching one on the northern Black Sea coast.

The South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K. D. Ushinsky was established as a Pedagogical Institute at Richelieu Lyceum in Odesa on 2 May in 1817. It is acknowledged as one of the oldest and most influential pedagogical universities of Ukraine.

The University has the International Distance Learning Centre, which is the only one in the south of Ukraine. Moreover, the South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University has information and cultural centres of Israel, Turkey, the USA, Lithuania and China.

Nowadays, The South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University has 12 faculties, 62 specialties for Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral programs and 4 departments.

ACCOMMODATION

The South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K. D. Ushinsky hostels are provided with free gas and electricity, hot and cold water and a phone. All the rooms are well-organized and furnished with a bed, a desk and a chair, provided with cold and hot running water, central heating, Internet access, and suitable lighting. Each room is attached to a kitchen where students can cook their own food. There are various shops and supermarkets around the hostel. Students’ canteens and cafes are also available on the territory of the academy.

There are reading rooms and a gym in every hostel. Hostels are provided with 24 hours security.
The students’ cafeteria is also available. Hostels are surrounded by a green belt with outdoor sport activities like basketball, volleyball, football, etc.

CITY LIFE

Odessa is the 5th largest Ukrainian city. It has got population of about 1.1 million people. The city of Odessa is the largest city along the entire Black Sea, that makes it extremally important for trade. Such location made the city popular among other nations. A huge variety of Ukrainian, Russian, Moldavian, Greek, Romanian, Bulgarian, Caucasian, Jewish, Turkish and Vietnamese live and work here.

The climate is mild in Odessa, and this makes the city very attractive for thousands of tourists. Odessa is luckily located between green hills and a picturesque harbor.

The city is famous for its stunning architecture: here you will find fabulously curved and intricated buildings in Italian and French styles. Dozens of cafes and restaurants pulled along shady streets and squares, giving the atmosphere of coziness and relaxation.
