LVIV STATE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY NAMED AFTER DANYLO HALYTSKY

Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University (LNMU) is one of the oldest and biggest medical educational institutions in Ukraine. The university has got the IV level of accreditation. It is regularly ranked among the twenty best universities of Ukraine.

 

Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University provides Undergraduate and Postgraduate education on Faculties of General Medicine (MD/MBBS), Dentistry and Pharmacy. The university also has a Preparatory Course and Postgraduate Training. According to the License of Ministry of Education, Science, Youth and Sports of Ukraine, there are about 500 international students studying at LNMU at present.

 

There are 78 departments at Lviv National Medical University. 1211 scientists are currently working at the Institute of Clinical Pathology, in the Central Research Laboratory (CRL) and Laboratory of industrial toxicology: 134 Doctor of Sciences and more than 620 PhD degree holders, including 113 full professors, 369 associate professors, 50 senior tutors, 662 assistant professors, 17 researchers.

ACCOMMODATION

Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University has got 8 hostels. Dormitories are provided with central heating, hot and cold running water, a canteen, a rest room, a sports club, a library, and a permanent Internet connection. The rooms are nicely equipped with necessary furniture. All hostels ensure students with bed linen that is regularly changed. The dormitories are provided with 24/7 security. The hostels ensure students with everything needed for studying:

  • internet clubs and reading rooms;
  • canteens/ cafes;
  • the sewing and footwear workshops;
  • the barber’s and the laundry;
  • A sports centre/ gym

 

 

CITY LIFE

Lviv is the biggest city of western Europe. The city has got an ancient history dated from the period of Kyiv Rus. The city has got a population of 717,486 of people. The humid continental climate makes winters cold and summers warm.

 

Nowadays, Lviv is one of the main Ukrainian cultural centers. It is known for being a center of art, literature, music and theatre. The city of Lviv is a multicultural city. A lot of international people live and study here. Thanks to new streams of foreign culture, a lot of new music and art have appeared in recent years. Walking down the streets, you can hear a lot of local bands playing absolutely new music and see murals, graffiti etc.

 

The city is famous for its stunning architecture: here you will find fabulously curved and luxuriously intricated buildings in Baroque, Renaissance, Rococo, Gothic and other styles. The beauty of Lviv’s architecture can compete with Kyiv and Odessa’s ones. Dozens of cafes and restaurants pulled along shady streets and squares, giving the atmosphere of coziness and relaxation.
