Marmara University is a public university established in 1883 in Istanbul, Turkey. The university offers educational programs in 5 languages (Turkish, English, German, French, Arabic) and is the only multilingual university in Turkey. The educational institution became known as the Istanbul Economic and Commercial Sciences Academy in 1959, then the institute became officially known as Marmara University and took its place among Turkish Institutes of Higher Education. Students have an opportunity to conduct their educational activity in 13 Campuses, 11 Institutes, 8 Colleges, and 28 Research Centers.
Marmara University and 3,000 members of its academic staff carry out an educational process for more than 70,000 international and local students, which makes it one of the most popular study destinations in Turkey. The university includes the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, which provides an educational process in 5 languages – Turkish, English, French, Arabic, and German, making Marmara University the only multilingual university in Turkey. A total of 1,500 foreign students from 73 countries are striving to get a high-quality education at Marmara University. Female students constitute 54% of the total population.
Marmara University is a modern and international university that hosts and participates in scientific meetings, cultural activities, art exhibitions, and sports along with various other national and international events. Marmara University is one of the few Turkish universities which are members of the European University Association (EUA). Faculties of Engineering and Technical Education are also carrying out their international studies through ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology). Many academic units within Marmara University have been successful in developing student and lecturer exchanges within the framework of the LLP and Erasmus/Socrates mobility programs offered by the European Commission.

Accommodation
Marmara University provides its international students with an opportunity to live in a renovated Handan Ertuğrul Dormitory or Özmen Aktar Dormitory for female students. Student dormitory is a comfortable and renovated space supplied with all needed facilities and technologies needed for study and relaxation. Özmen Aktar Dormitory provides accommodation options for over 500 international students. They stay in renovated double and triple rooms with separate baths and WC. Hot water, air conditioning, and heating are available 24/7.
Handan ErtuÄŸrul Dormitory consists of 15 rooms with an opportunity of housing for more than 100 students. Rooms are supplied with new furniture such as beds, wardrobes, tables, modern TV, refrigerator, and has separated bathrooms with WC and washing machine. To encourage communication between students, a common room equipped with a large TV, gaming consoles, and board games provides a space for students to relax after a hard studying process. To improve the convenience of international students students dormitory operates a 24-hour reception service, security service, and safe system.
