Alytaus Kolegija University of Applied Sciences was founded in 2000 in alignment with the newly enacted Law on Higher Education in Lithuania, which introduced a binary system of higher education. The university offers 11 internationally accredited higher education programs maintaining high educational standards and incorporating international, intercultural, and global dimensions, resulting in Professional Bachelor’s degrees. The degree programs at Alytaus Kolegija University of Applied Sciences emphasize competence-based and professionally oriented studies across fields like Business and Public Management, Informatics, Engineering, Technologies, and Health Sciences.

Alytaus Kolegija University of Applied Sciences actively participates in exchange programs to promote internationalization, enhance educational opportunities, and foster cultural diversity among its students and staff. Erasmus+ aims to enhance skills, employability, and modernize education, training, and youth development. It offers opportunities for over 4 million Europeans to study, train, work, and volunteer abroad. It supports partnerships among educational, training, and youth institutions to bridge education and employment gaps in Europe. The program aids national efforts to modernize the educational systems. In the field of sports, it backs projects targeting issues like match-fixing, doping, violence, and racism. Erasmus+ consolidates seven existing EU programs into one, making it easier to access with simplified funding rules.

The Student Association Office of Alytaus Kolegija University of Applied Sciences, an independent, non-political, and non-profit organization, advocates for the interests of all AK students. Established on December 20, 2001, its roles and responsibilities include safeguarding students’ rights on local, national, and international levels, active engagement in the University’s administration and public affairs, conducting surveys to assess opinions and expectations, suggesting enhancements to the study quality, organizing diverse events, competitions, seminars, conferences, national and global projects, and dialogues with business leaders and governmental authorities. The Office plays an active role in youth organizations like AVJOSAS and holds membership in the Lithuanian Students’ Union (LSS).
