Degree Structure
Lithuania follows the three-system degree structure following the Bologna Process/ It is a common system in Europe and many other countries across the globe.
- Bachelor’s degree. The first cycle encompasses undergraduate studies leading to a Bachelor’s degree (referred to as “Bakalauras”), typically spanning a duration of 3 to 4 years;
- Master’s degree. The second cycle includes graduate studies leading to a Master’s degree (known as “Magistras”), which typically extends for 2 years;
- Doctoral degree. The third cycle pertains to doctoral studies culminating in a Doctor’s degree (referred to as “Daktaro mokslo laipsnis”), typically spanning a duration of 4 to 5 years.
Lithuanian universities provide integrated study programs, where the first and second cycles are combined, allowing students to graduate with a Master’s degree. The integrated programs typically have a duration of 4 to 6 years.
