Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University is an authorized Higher Educational Institution, founded by Bishop Giuseppe Pasotto, the Apostolic Administrator of Latin Catholics in Caucasus in 2001 as the Institute of Philosophy, Theology, History and Culture. The University obtained further institutional accreditation in 2009 and continuously evolved its amount of educational programs. Today the University carries out educational activities with 13 undergraduate programs on 5 faculties. Internationalization is one of the main priorities of Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University. Since its establishment, it has been actively cooperating with foreign universities and professors in the frame of International conferences, symposia, public lectures, or seminars. Nowadays, the university cooperates with over 50 foreign universities in more than 21 countries within the framework of various projects (exchange programs, Erasmus+ KA1 ICM, Erasmus+ KA2).
Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University has the Center for Continuous Professional Development launched within the Erasmus+ KA2 STAR project (Sustainable Lerner-Centered Teaching – advance recourse for Georgia and China) and is equipped with the modern techniques purchased within the project. The aim of the CPD unit is to support the improvement of Quality of the education and its approach to Modern Standards through the implementation of Learner-Centered Teaching, elaborated within the STAR project. To determine the needs of professional development of academic and administrative staff of the university and its support.
