“Angel Kanchev” University of Ruse, established on November 12, 1945, underwent transformation through a People’s Assembly Decision on June 21, 1995, becoming an autonomous state higher school. The university comprises eight faculties, and its strategic priorities include preparing students for a competitive job market, expanding the training scope, enhancing the intra-university quality control system, developing staff and research potential, engaging in European integration and international relations, and establishing a well-organized, flexible university system with modern facilities and information databases.

The University of Ruse actively engages in more than 250 international agreements in the fields of science and education, with over 200 falling under the Erasmus Programme. These agreements involve multilateral and bilateral collaborations, extending to around 40 countries across Europe, Asia, and America, encompassing 20 international programs. Annually, approximately 450 to 520 lecturers, administrators, students, and doctoral candidates participate in international training and practical forums. The University of Ruse’s commitment to international collaboration is evident, with student mobilities steadily increasing, and between 70 to 100 students participating in international journeys through the Erasmus program each year.

The International Cooperation Office (ICO) plays a pivotal role in managing the global relations of the University of Ruse. It oversees external contacts and partnerships, fostering international communication. Guided by the latest EU program documents in education, science, and research, ICO operates on principles of openness, cooperation, dialogue, and adaptability. The objectives encompass maintaining and elevating the University’s international image and prestige, nurturing existing global partnerships, expanding inter-institutional international cooperation, advocating opportunities for academic staff development, and broadening the scope of international initiatives led by the University.

Accommodation

University of Ruse in Bulgaria oversees five Student Halls on the central campus, providing 1900 beds. All halls feature central heating, hot water, and private bathrooms in each room. Student Hostel-1 and Student Hostel-2 have undergone extensive renovations. Rooms in various buildings accommodate two or three beds with kitchen corners and balconies. The remaining hostels have communal kitchens and laundry rooms. Cable and Wi-Fi are accessible throughout, and additional facilities include communal launderettes, photocopier centers, a fitness gym, a post office, and fast-food restaurants and cafes. A renovated student canteen and food counters offer affordable meals and beverages within walking distance, aligning with the study schedule from 7:00 to 20:00 on workdays.
