American University of Bulgaria
American University in Bulgaria was established in 1991 through a collaborative effort between the United States and the Republic of Bulgaria. Its primary goal is to educate and prepare future leaders in the Southeast European region to address the transitional challenges and promote the development of democratic and free enterprise-based societies. The unique educational partnership received significant support from various organizations, including the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Open Society Institute led by Mr. George Soros, the University of Maine, and the city of Blagoevgrad, which offered instruction and student housing facilities.
American University of Bulgaria has gained global recognition due to its unique combination of academic excellence and a diverse cultural environment. It attracts students from various countries, including North Macedonia, Serbia, Albania, Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Spain, Vietnam, and the United States. The faculty consists of highly qualified educators with international backgrounds, proficient in teaching within a multicultural and student-focused setting. Over the past 27 years, AUBG has produced over 4,000 graduates, who are rapidly emerging as influential contributors to the progress of their respective nations.

American University in Bulgaria offers international students 3 Student Hostels to choose the best accommodation option for their request. Skaptopara I, the first residence hall, has been transformed to foster a unique living and learning environment. It provides outdoor areas for relaxation and a cafeteria for meals. The basement of Skapto I houses a multipurpose room, fitness center, and laundry facilities. Skaptopara II, the second dormitory of the American University in Bulgaria, features common lobbies for study and relaxation. In the basement of Skapto II, there is a dance room and laundry facilities. Skaptopara III, the newest residence hall, has uniquely decorated floors with common areas offering amenities like a TV, kitchen, and study spaces. The basement of Skapto III has a multipurpose room with table tennis.
